Middle Rock Conservation PartnersWHO WE ARE
The Middle Rock Conservation Partners (MRCP) is a vibrant group of people with passionate concern for natural resources: our water, soil, air, flora and fauna. Young and old, professional and amateur; active and passive we share a concern for the health of our planet and we "do" something about this concern. Some members are private landowners; some are deeply involved in local and national conservation/environmental organizations; some members work as paid professional land managers and some volunteer thousands of hours. Diverse skill sets among members provide abilities for MRCP to implement prescribed fire, create websites, raise funds, pull weeds, inventory plants, monitor rare turtles and more!
With only a very small portion (< 0.10%) of Illinois’ original landscape remaining, it is our goal to protect representative examples of intact native ecosystems and unique natural features that persist. Our vision is an approach whereby: a) biodiversity and natural area quality are enhanced; b) natural processes of fire are restored; c) valuable and important research and educational opportunities are available; and d) financial sustainability is achieved. Actively communicating the value and richness of natural areas to the public is vital. We have established and strengthened partnerships, and cooperated with entities and individuals dedicated to our mission and will continue to do so. Utilizing accepted management techniques, and seeking innovative methods, we continue to provide stable and responsible professional administration and on-ground management for natural areas within Lee and Ogle counties. |
